Navigating Burnout

In the hospitality industry, burnout is unfortunately all too common. While those of us in the field understand the demands—long hours, working holidays and weekends—it becomes disheartening when our work feels like a burden. The primary culprit behind burnout, I believe, is the work environment. The kitchen should be a space where we eagerly share our passion for the culinary arts.

Not every day will be a walk in the park, but those challenging days contribute to our growth and expertise. Call me crazy, but I envision the kitchen as a place we look forward to—a space where we’re fortunate to have fun with fire, food, and bring joy to people’s faces. If a kitchen lacks camaraderie, passion, fun, compassion, and education – burnout becomes inevitable.

For those who see cooking as just a job, that’s okay. However, I kindly ask that you don’t apply to my kitchen. I encourage you to find something you’re genuinely passionate about and love doing. Thanks for your time reading this, much love!
